The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back.   The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

This is an image I created to use as inspiration for a banner that I painted with a fifth grade elementary school class. The children and I painted a 5' x 10' banner of the drawing I had made, and it was so much fun that I had to paint a version myself.
